About Us

Columbus Indiana Marathi Shala is a non-profit institution affiliated with Columbus Ganesh Mandal (CGM) and supported by Sri Ganesh Mandir (SGM) for conducting classes. The Shala is run solely by volunteers.

The mission of Columbus Indiana Marathi Shala is to empower children to confidently read, write, and communicate fluently in Marathi. In addition to learning Marathi, students are introduced to Marathi culture, traditions and history through classroom celebrations and activities. Students get an opportunity to showcase their language skills during events organized by CGM, SGM and other local events.

The Shala follows a curriculum developed by BMM in collaboration with Bharati Vidyapeeth. Designed specifically to address the needs of students living outside India, the curriculum was formally reviewed and approved by Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune, in April 2009.

The Shala is conducted in Hybrid format – In-person class on Sunday for 1.5 hours and weekly online classes for 15–20 minutes. Student must be at least five years old to enroll.

Shala Information and Calendar

We follow local BCSC calendar and plan major events, holidays based on Drik
Panchang (using Columbus IN coordinates) and BCSC calendar.
